With the beginning of a new year La Clase Mágica and TACKLE programs started full speed ahead in mid-October with new curriculum and projects at Solana Beach, La Costa Paloma, Vista, and San Pasqual. This fall 2014 La Clase Mágica and TACKLE programs began using Minecraft as part of their after school curriculum. Through collaboration and planning the children and UGs have been actively creating virtual worlds alongside the fun games they do at site.
La Clase Mágica has brought back El Maga at Solana! El Maga, the wizard of La Clase Mágica, is a omniscient and powerful entity who is fluent in all language and chats with the children online. El Maga serves as a tool that aids in developing the kid's literacy development through activities such as chatting, email, and letter writing. Through El Maga, the children are developing literacy skills while learning about technology as well. Furthermore, Minecraft has been incorporated in all of La Clase Mágica's sites. It is being used as an educational tool. Minecraft allows the children to use their creativity, problem-solving skills, and since most of the children are masters at Minecraft, they teach the UG's how to play! Minecraft is a great educational tool that the children enjoy using, all while it aids their development, skills, and teaches them about technology.
We can't wait to update you all!

Miguel Mendoza, Preuss Intern Fall 2014
My name is Miguel Eduardo Lomeli Mendoza, and I am currently a senior at the Preuss School UC San Diego. As part of senior year we as students are required to participate in an internship during a twelve week period. I interned with La Clase Mágica under the supervision of Sandra Telles. When I found out I would intern with La Clase Mágica I was quite intrigued knowing the mission of the organization and thinking what could I possibly do as an intern here. I was also very nervous the first day since it would be my first internship/work experience ever. While at La Clase Mágica I completed office tasks like scanning, organizing files, and creating documents. I also helped Sandra Telles in the other creative tasks she asked me to do. I really enjoyed the time and experiences I had while at La Clase Mágica as well as the opportunities it has given me to meet new people like Olga Vasquez, Sandra Telles, and current college students, who I would not have met in any other circumstances.
I am planning to attend a four year university (UCSD or San Luis Obispo) enroll in the business management program and after ending those four years hopefully continuing my education at UCLA’s school of business. I encourage other people to participate in La Clase Mágica as it has given me a very enjoyable and nurturing experience which I hope many more could go through.

On behalf of our team, we would like to send a special thank you to the Del Mar Kiwanis for their donation to La Clase Mágica - Solana Beach from their event "Day at the Races." The Del Mar Kiwanis is a 100-year-old service organization dedicated to serving children from around the world. “Day at the Races” is an annual event for community members to gather and enjoy an afternoon at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. This even supported La Clase Mágica – Solana Beach and Rady’s Children Hospital. Thank you Del Mar Kiwanis!
